Okay so please people, lets be mature about this because I'm really curious about this and don't understand it so I'm asking. (That's just what I do)

So I'm an 18 year old straight female and I would like to better understand what the appeal is for men having sexual fantasies about twins. What is so erotic about two people who look alike performing sexual acts on each other?

This can also be seen in Hollywood, scenes in which two of the same person (i.e.. Sylar from Heroes or in the music video for 'The Kill' by 30 Seconds to Mars or Pink's music video 'Sober')

It would also be interesting for this conversation to leak onto the question of homosexuality being attractive to someone of the opposite sex (i.e.. lesbians having sex is 'hot' to men, gay men having sex is 'hot' to women) But if the main focus of the discussion could be about the first topic I've mentioned, that would be great.

What is the physiological appeal to this?
Please tell me your opinions as well as any books or Internet sites I might be able to find more info on.

Thanks you guys for your input and have a good one!

Hi Nicole. When asking a question like this the first thing you need to do is understand what the actual pattern is that you're asking about. Just because something is popularized by western media doesn't mean that it represents an actual trend in all or the majority of human men. How many men do actually find twins highly sexually attractive? Are less attractive twins more sexually appealing than one highly attractive woman (remember that in popular media the twins portrayed are usually very attractive in their own right)? If this pattern really does exist, do we see it in cultures besides our own? Has this pattern always existed or is it a recent occurrence? I don't know the answers to these questions, so that makes it difficult to answer yours.

Man can will nothing unless he has first understood that he must count on no one but himself; that he is alone, abandoned on earth in the midst of his infinite responsibilities, without help, with no other aim than the one he sets himself, with no other destiny than the one he forges for himself on this earth.

I think this might represent (in the guy's mind) self-pleasuring. Like the twins are really one person, doing herself. Why that's particularly arousing, I'd guess it normalizes and condones his own urges... i.e to whack off. As well it seems to prove by geometric logic the girls love sex that much.

Practically all fantasy and fetish gives the message that sexual urges outweigh other considerations, especially social constraints. Almost all of it has everyone involved sharing that value. IMO those are healthy avenues, as they depend on mutual consent and indeed enthusiasm.

Variety is the spice of life! Diversity keeps the race going (Yes that was meant to be ironic Pong!)

2 people = 4 hands + 100% extra of everything else for 2x the pleasure.

And men seem to be more often visually stimulated and like to watch stuff.

Which is why most of them like watching Top Gear, especially the ones that drive Estate cars. And also why they wear dark sunglasses on a hot sunny day.

Seeing two girls together, twins or not, is kinky, and erotic and probably reminds them of past times when they were head of a tribe and had a harem at their disposal.
Absum! has never been bored in her life, but is becoming increasingly bored of the Science Forum! :?

I cant say I have intense fantasies about 'twins' in particular so I might be off track, but in my opinion the essence is more related to the 2 (twice the pleasure as Absum! pointed out). Two women having sex together is also arousing but I cant quite explain it(maybe there's no "rival"[man] in this picture and maybe there is the fantasyland notion that 'these women like sex so muh they are having it even without a man and that they both would have sex with you'). If a male animal see a male and a female its probably less cheerful than seeing two females by them selves. So I presume the core of the twins fantasy are these seperate fantasies that arent related to twins, it would be a corelation by association.

There might be the 'fantasyland' notion that the togetherness of twins make them more likely than 2 different girls to have a threesome with 'you'(the man having a fantasy) and that in the fantasyland chosing a twin is therefore a 2 for 1 special.

Maybe, I'm different, too. But being a man, I cannot see, why watching lesbians having sex or fantasising about twins would start particularly increased erotic feelings in me. I haven't noticed anything like that.

But I could think of another answer: In the end, sex was invented by evolution in order to make reproduction more efficient in terms of progress and resilience. It is observed that mammals select their mates to match with their own genes so that the next generation has a good chance to be resistant enough to survive. If the best choice happens to be there twice, what better could happen for doubling the chances of success?

I think my second earlier point pretty well covers it... lemme put it another way:

Let's assume Two Ladies (beedle dee, deedle dee, dee!) appeals for the same reason other fantasies do. Look: we have sex in uniform, sex in the elevator, sex with coworkers, nurses, in fact anybody anyplace we're not supposed to... and how can we forget the horny nun? The common message in all these is that lust just knocks aside inhibitions... that beneath our restrained veils pant animals itchy for sex. That's the main message also in twin sex: They really shouldn't, but they're just so darn horny.

I think getting off on the idea of other people's arousal is totally healthy. More so than getting off on some meat.
