I will present a scenario: Two warring space civilizations in conflict. It is heightening and both sides are losing. Each one has the ability to destroy existence. Each know of the other's ability. Each can see the other with the weapon(they know if the other is about to detonate).

What will be the outcome and the probability of it.

This is about thinking of possibilities not actual answers.

Actually I do not know why I put this in Physics (unless it could be seen as physics of the mind) so if a moderator would like to move this to Behavioral; please do.

Their law makers have failed as leaders. The war is to hide their failure. Decrease the surplus population. And make it so that expressing sane intelligent views that highlight both sides are losing, are illegal or at least very unwelcome. And could lead to airport privileges cancelled. Three years in custody without a voice or rights.

Of course by this time it seems to late to go back and fix it, if you gave the Ok for such laws.

Nothing happens. The destruction of the human spirit into an eating machine takes place. Unless men like George Washington and Benjamin Franklin, John Adams do something.

    Sincerely,

    William McCormick

We indeed need people who will uphold a certain truth; that truth, although I will now state its meaning differently, is liberty.

Liberty: Humans' unhindered by restraints that threaten their wellbeing.

I feel that we need to understand that the development of humans is by rising degrees; to state any differently, than what I have said, would be to overextend our understanding of what liberty is, I believe.

On a cool note.... you mentioned people like John Adams and Benjamin Franklin and it got me thinking, when I realized what it is they(and people like them) had done for Earth. They created a sociological system that created less restriction of thought. This enabled the evolution of a civilization to progress more rapidly.

    Thank You America

This is similar to Cold War; the reason; through our possible eons of existence I am sure that history will undoubtedly repeat itself. The setting of space is to symbolize that progression. The scenario is a representation of the complex social systems and of variations of that complexity in conflict. The question asks for imaginative logic; it even made me think about the probability of such a scenario actually taking place. Even though physical laws, perhaps, prevent existence being destroyed; it makes you contemplate the reality of it. It also asks you to truly appreciate the intricacies of social systems and how all of its values factor in to waring bodies. I am sure through a semi-complex system of equations you could predict the likely hood of the scenario(in its literal translation). Meaning would it ever truly get to a point of such extremity. When you factor in the evolution of a civilization and its empathetic structure; its conscious awareness of what life/death is.

Point being did the cold war heat up???

You have to wonder, considering how close we were, was it luck?????????????????

    Or a underlying factor.

We have the ability to wipe out anything we wish. It is just that even the most wicked have some kind of internal mechanism that keeps them from doing it. Their soul. They often play games lying to themselves in order to commit atrocities that they see as naughty deeds, childish pranks. It is not that real to them.

Even Hitler had the ability at some time during the war to wipe out earth. However in some strange way I believe that he thought if everyone had technology that they would use it against him. Poor guy.

That is the admission of a madman, or warning sign, they cover up technology.

Hitler actually started to cover up technology. That would have been his only chance at wining a war.

    Sincerely,
