    Hello everyone,

    I just stumbled upon this article: http://www.hawaiistreets.com/sciencenews/?itemid=46

    The ideas just blew me off my feet. The possibility of using nanotechnology in space exploration is quite interesting. It becomes possible to construct tiny spacecrafts that can perform complicated space missions and so on and so forth. I wonder what your thoughts on this are?

    Yes NASA had launched a group to look at the propositions you can find in sci-fi books and see if one of them can be realistic in some way.

    And since a moment the space elevator (coming from Arthur C. Clark Im not sure) is taking seriously and companies are already working to make it feasible ! In this case, nanotech will help a lot to make the wire which will support the elevator ...

    To be continued, look at science.nasa.gov, I think they have an article about it.
    Look here -> http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2...l_nanotech.htm

    Wow, this is fascinating, just like reading a science fiction book! I'm glad that NASA is taking a more innovating approach to exploration. I think the only way to achieve something worthwhile is to think outside the box.

    there are three and sci-fi concepts that absolutly must be explored to the fullest:
    -hyperspacial travel.
    -Inertial Dampening.
    -Energy scource for the two.

    then we are unstopable.

    Ok, I'll talk to the boss and see what we can do

    This is definitely the way forward. However nanotubes are only a small part of nanotechnology. I don’t know much about the subject, although I have found some interesting website on my travels:

    Great video explaining how the Space Elevator will work, and more information can be found here: Elevator 2010

    Some other areas of nanotechnology:

    Quantum Dots / Semiconductor Nanocrystals.

    buiding a space craft out of Nano-tech would work wonders on making the space suttle for example stronger, lighter and maybe even more heat resistant.

    I think schools should teach the skill of recognising fact from fiction, there should be extra lessons in 'president' school :wink:
