Well, I am researching a bit for a little piece of SF and a part of the plot requires that certain planets in the solar system are in a certain configuration. So I need a simple software that calculates and visually plots orbits for the objects in solar system in top-down perspective, so I can give it a date and "fast forward" orbital moves until planets reach the desired configuration... any suggestions?

You should check out celestia. http://www.shatters.net/celestia/
Really cool virtual universe program, and quite accurate. I've used it to predict when eclipses will happen on jupiter, so it should be fine for your purpose.

It's for a SF story, and I want it to be astronomically accurate.
