    I found this clip online that claims that the sun may not be a disconnected body and it may actually recieve the particles that fuel it remotely by electric birkeland currents. They say this is what causes the filamentary structure of the corona, and the temparature maximum above the suns surface. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihVaL-FHUyk

    the guy who posted the video also gives a link to dozens of peer reviewed plasma cosmology papers which give evidence for this electricity and plasma in space (they are listed in the description of this video; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V026kSw4XCs). I think it is a very interesting theory, and one that is obviously going to be strongly opposed by the establishment. What do people think? it does definately explain the coronal heating mystery, and also explain why the corona is there in the first place.

    I'll copy the description given on the other video, which includes the links to the peer reveiwed papers he cited.

    I have collected some peer reviewed papers on this subject, for the skeptics, who are no doubt going to find this theory hard to accept as it contradicts the vast majority of modern cosmology. heres some peer reviewed papers on plasma cosmology;

    I'm confused. They seem perfectly scientifically sound papers, but seem to be contradictory to most of modern gravity based cosmology.

    Plasma cosmology is an alternate 'world' view. It does not have a huge following, but does have some solid thinking (and thinkers) behind it. I have not read enough on it to form an opinion either way (and suspect I lack enough knowledge in this field to justify any opinion formed).
