Could a large asteroid impact or other similar event that happens on say, Mars, possibly endanger the Earth with flying debris and whatnot? I know it would depend on the size of the incident, but in general...

Probably not. The size of debris kicked up by even a large impact would not be a major threat to the Earth. That said I imagine you could throw up something large enough to flatten a small city if it it has a lucky hit. However, the transit time for objects thrown into orbit by Mars impacts is of the order of ten thousand years. By then humanity will either be dead or be able to track bubble gum wrappers anywhere in the inner solar system.
