I hope this isn't a hoax. If it's true then what would have happened if instead, it entered Earth's atmosphere?

    15 tonnes of TNT?
    Pfft, a mere trifle.
Norway got hit by a rock delivering - from memory - about 20 kilotonnes a couple of years back.
    It barely made the news.
(Although, if it had hit a populated area it might have hit the headlines).

Besides: Had the same rock approached the Earth, it would have burned up before reaching the ground.

There is a good example of a bit bigger space rock entering our atmosphere and the effects of it.

Chelyabinsk meteor - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It makes me wonder just what it was like to see some of the ones that actually left craters behind.
