Looking at the Hydrogen Wikipedia page, specifically the small section on this elements relation to Quantum Theory. Can anyone flesh out what is being conveyed here?

You want someone to teach you Quantum Theory in this thread?

Er, perhaps the Feynman Lectures could assist you?

You mean here: Hydrogen - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ?

It seems to make two basic points:

    1. The hydrogen atom is a simple example to use for experiment and theoretical analysis. I believe that it is pretty much impossible to solve the equations describing an atom more complex than hydrogen because the interactions between the particles are so complex. For that reason numerical methods (basically simulation) are used to analyse or model the behaviour of more complex atoms and molecules.

    2. Maxwell observed behaviour that can only be explained by quantum theory. (I was unaware of that)

That's about all I got out of it.
