    Short extract from a paper that calculates that near earth sized planets even without solar heating might retain or produce enough internal heat to hold liquid oceans under thick layers of ice for up to a billion years.

    "If a rogue planet had about ten times higher water mass fraction or a thick cryo- atmospheric layer, it would need to be only ~0.3 times the mass of Earth to maintain a liquid ocean. "
