An article detailing the recent observations made by Laurent Pagani (LERMA linked with the Observatoire de Paris) and Jürgen Steinacker (Max Planck Institute for Astronomy in Heidelberg, Germany. The team’s study is based on observations via the NASA SPITZER Space Telescope. The study outlines a new phenomenon which promises greater information about the crucial earliest phase of the formation of stars and their subsequent planetary systems.

Thanks & as always, enjoy! :-D

Thanks for discovering this. Jürgen Steinacker (the theorist in that team) is actually a colleague of mine with whom I have worked and I am working with.

This is really an interesting discovery that dust grains do not necessarily only grow in the dense regions, as previously thought, but may already populate the more diffuse matter surrounding star forming sites. This is very important, because the grain size is a key parameter in understanding the energy equilibrium in star forming regions. This could influence the speed of star formation.

Just an idea. We have magnetic elements and even ionisation can attract particles (as in the use of anodes and cathodes). Is it possible that often the first small collections of anything to form are these and other stuff coagulates around them?
