The PLANCK satellite that was launched together with the HERSCHEL telescope has finished the first coverage of the sky. Its purpose is to repeat the WMAP measurement of the cosmic microwave background radiation at a better resolution. The first all sky image that still contains the entire milky way and extragalactic objects was released a few days ago.
