Transit is the wrong word, as that applies to an object crossing the face of the sun. The proper term is "Close Approach".

The two showers from Halley's comet are the eta Aquariids (early May) and the Orionids (mid October). The currently peaking Perseids come from comet P/109 Swift-Tuttle.

You know, it would be good if you wrote a sentence or two about when it is and roughly where it is visible. It would make your posts seem less SPAM like.

Stargazers could enjoy a rare spectacle as a bright comet swings into the Northern Hemisphere.

The icy mass, called C/2011 L4 Pan-Starrs, should be visible with binoculars or a telescope from 8 March.

But in the following days, it will become even brighter and could be seen with the naked eye.

It will be the second one this century, and the last one for our lifetimes, unless you truly are immortal, which I am beginning to suspect
