I have just acquired two books by Michio Kaku on hyperspace and parallel universes, and I must say, it is mind-boggling, the stuff physicists have considered! From Riemann's geometric revolution to the Kaluza-Klein theory.....it seems like hyperspace is fast-becoming plausible!!!

WORMHOLES! TIME TRAVEL! PARALLEL UNIVERSES! BABY UNIVERSES!

....why, EVEN PERHAPS THE KEY TO CREATION!!!!

I am awed to the point where it's indescribable!

    Acquiescence, anyone?
    Arguments?

Yes it is phenomenal some of the stuff people can think of

For example it's universally accepted Lightspeed cannot be reached, so scientists opt to Bend the very universe to make a 130 lightyear journey 3 feet long

Michio Kaku is a fantastic man, I still need to get ahold of some of his books, *sigh*

Hyperspace would be nice as it would mean we could get to the stars fairly quickly one day. It seems to be based on wormholes which are nonsense. They just might exist inside black holes but that is it. A wormhole even a light year long is going to take the energy of entire galaxies to keep open. There is also pressure inside wormholes, or if another dimension, can matter survive there? You change the laws so that the speed of light vanishes and who knows?

Time travel? Nonsense. It could only work if the whole Universe, every pico second (or the smallest time unit you can travel to) of eternity can simultaneously exist somehow. Like maybe a googol of time frames and you can jump from one to another. You will of course be taking energy from one time frame and adding it to another.

Parallel universes? No. There could easily be other universes beyond ours unimaginable distances away that we may never reach but two things cannot occupy the same area, even if as in DC comics, they do so by different vibrations.

In theory if you could have a black hole big enough (ie: our universe), you could have normal matter inside it and even black holes form inside black holes. The biggest discovered so far is a mere 18 billion solar masses, so far too small.

Physicists do come out with some weird ideas like dark energy, dark matter, the big bang and the like.

Cyberia you take life far too much on what is proven

firstly time travel is already possible, just not in the 'back to the future' way, by creating a cross of lasers in a gas cloud it is possible to send a quantum particle back in time to anywhere up to the moment the machine was activated, by 2009 it will be finished and turned on,

As much as I hate to behave like a single-minded devotee of the masses I have to say, why? why are parralel universes, time travel and hyperspace impossible?
Traveling at lightspeed is impossible in theory, it would defy the laws of physics,
there are no laws specifically stating you cannot have parelell existance or wormholes or anything else, and even if the basic concept is against the laws other solutions to achive the same aims are not, In cartoon 'Futurama' their spaceship travels at twice the speed of light, in one episode this is explained, the ship does not move at all because lightspeed is impossible, the ship stays where it is, the engines move the universe around the ship. Although only a comedy program this is a good point, nothing says we can't move the universe around us only the speed we can move through it

I'm more inclined to believe in time travel as the solution. Go ahead and spend 10,000 years going to Alpha Centari (4 light years, but I'm sure we could make it in 10,000 years at a normal speed)

Then, time travel back in time 10,000 years.

The problem with a worm hole, as I understand it, is that your body would be ripped to pieces. The problem with singularities is that the Gmm/(r^2) formula at that kind of mass creates a situation where an object only a few inches closer to the center might be under the effects of a much stronger gravity than an object a few inches further away.

IE. Your feet are under stronger gravity than your head. If that difference is a strong enough difference, your feet aren't going to stay attached to your body.

I find your belief on the fact that a particle can not exsit in 2 places at once unaccurate .we have done it in the lab, had the same particle in 2 places at once and that is hard to acctually wrap your mind around but yes the SAME particale in 2 places at once. if one particle can do that than with heisenberg's uncertainty principle all particals every were can exist in 2 places at once.and the fact that you say time travel is nosence is in it self nonsense einstein's theory of relativity says that as you approach the speed of light, time slows down in affect if you could reach those speeds you would be in affect time traveling.
