Should people send to space all important information, films, discovered technologys, music etc. in case there's gonna happen something dramatic to us? :?

we have been, ever since the first high-powered television broadcasts. i think this idea is a good one though. since radio/tv broadcasts don't stay around forever in one area, it might be a good idea to send off all information. but i doubt if anyone is gonna spend the money to do it. the voyager missions both had a lot of info from earth sent with them and the first is just now leaving the solar system.

If anythings going to happen to us as in total destruction of the human race? Well what good would a space based repository be if no one was left to use it? It would be put somewhere where it could be gotten to by humans but if no humans were left how would aliens find this stuff and even if they did what good what it be to them, after all we humans were destroyed so we didn't learn how to protect ourselves so why would they want to learn about stupidity?

Maybe after our death - there would become new people - like us - then they would find all stuff and even if UFO:s would find it - that would be cool too. - there's so much how that could be useful.

What would be the objective of sending this information off:
    1) Provide alien historians and scientists (if they aren't to alien to have historians and scientists) with a record of what humans achieved, or didn't achieved.
    2) As an indirect way of achieving racial immortality.
    3) As a repository of knowledge for any humans that did survive a planetary catastrophe.

None are hugely compelling on a logical level, but my DNA said we had to take a stab at it for reason 2).

Does anyone think we are ever going to be extinct (the human race)?

...like the planet is going to destroy even before we can leave or something so sudden will happen that we won’t be able to prepare?

That not even a couple of us will survive?

I am almost certain we shall become extinct, in one of the following ways:
    1) We shall evolve into new forms that are sufficiently different from our present nature that they must be viewed as a new species.
    2) We shall destroy ourselves through warfare or ecological disaster.
    3) We shall be wiped out by a natural catastrophe.

Very few species last more than a few million years. The clock is running.
