Now, I know this doesn't quite fit here, but it didn't fit another section either. A friend of mine, while doing pot, I must admit, made some pictures of the moon, where she saw some kind of strange trail. Now, I believed they were just hallucinations from one too many puffs, if you get my meaning, but these pictures do suggest something. Now, these are just aircraft trails right? I'm asking because they do like kinda funny, and because normally these lines don't run straight down, now do they?

    Thanks!

    Mr U

First off, those are awesome picture of the moon.

Secondly, if your friend was stoned, then it probably was tree branches in front of the moon. I highly doubt it is jet trails. If it isn't branches I think your stoned buddy might be on to something.

Ask him/her if there is a tree in front of the moon at the place he/she took the picture.

Wow where does your friend live... a desert? It's so dark. I've never seen the moon like that. Like I said, that's an awesome picture.

No, it's in the city. If you look in the lower part of the picture, you can see the silhouttes of buildings, which makes a tree there impossible as well.
Well, that day she took that picture, the moon was very beautiful. I was thinking about making a picture as well, because it looked so nice from where I was sitting.

It's actually very clear that it is a jet con trail. In the aura around the moon you can see it, however it vanishes where it crosses over the top. If it were a branch it would not allow the light to penetrate in this way.

that is an beautiful picture it looks kind of an picture made by computer animation.but it seems strange that in only one picture the buildings are bieng seen.it can be noticed that an strange blur con be noticed on he picture it makes it look kind of cloudy.but i sincerely cant make out what it is.maybe you should try seeing the shape of the obect or whatever it is which is blocking.whatever it it is it is not a branch.

Krishna the blur around the moon is caused due to the EARTH'S atmospheric refraction of the moon light.

Vapour trails can appear to be vertical when you are looking upwards i.e. if they are coming from behind and going to the front or vice versa. Also the wind can move them. But I don’t want to spoil your fun

    It looks like a contrail.

The relative size is OK to me. Also contrails just look like dark lines when they're visually close to a background light (i.e. the sun/moon) as in that conditions we see directly their shadow rather than the disperse light from the sides (contrails are visible in the night too, just they're very dim even with full moon).
