I think the correct answer is not, "No," but is rather, "What the hell do you mean?"

Please define what you mean by 'dropping'. This implies and up and a down. So what is the up relative to? What is the down relative to? Marnix's reply is likely intended to mean "I have no idea what you mean by dropping, but I can assure you that the Earth's orbit is not changing in any significant way."
I'm sure Marnix will clarify if the intent was different.

That's what happens when you write as though you're uneducated.

Seriously, think about what you're asking. When one object orbits another, the orbital plane passes through both objects. So the earth's orbit cannot "drop" below the orbital planes of, say, all the other planets--if it did, then the earth would no longer be orbiting the sun, as its "orbital plane" would no longer go through the sun. To put it another way, if one half of the earth's orbit dips below the orbital planes of other planets, then the other half must rise above. So your question can be, "Is the inclination of the earth's orbit about the sun changing?" But, again, "dropping" makes no sense.

I think Pong has got his meaning; falling, dropping, as in gravity, degeneration of orbit.

i'm pretty certain that lavender is in search of something to give her a catastrophe in 2012 - now that her theory about a solar storm has been proven to be nothing but a storm in a teacup, i'm sure she's looking for anything that still might produce a catastrophe on the appointed date

even if the earth's orbit were decaying (as far as i'm aware there's no solid evidence for this at all) this type of change would only be noticeable over at least thousands if not millions of years - the earth's orbit in 2012 will be no different from what it is now

My recollection - which is not 100% on this point - is that the Earth's orbit is very slowly moving outwards from the sun, in the same way the moon is moving slowly further away from the Earth. The mechanism is the same - exchange of angular momentum via tidal influences - but because of the relative masses of the bodies involved, the change in the Earth's orbit is wholly insignificant.

Edited to include a missing of and a missing comma.

For the time interval of 1850AD-2050AD, the Earth's orbit increases by by an average of 8.4 km per century. This should put us about 1/3 of an kilometer further from The Sun in 2012.

However, during the time period of 3000BC-3000AD, the Earth's orbit decreases by an average of 4 meters per century. Using this figure puts us about 16 centimeter (6.3 inches) closer to the Sun in 2012.

    Solomon Grundy
In 1944, this creature rose from the swamp, with tremendous strength and some dormant memories that for example allowed him to speak English, but not knowing what he was, and not remembering Cyrus Gold or his fate. Wandering throughout the swamp, he encountered two escaped criminals, killed them, and took their clothes. When they asked him his name, he simply muttered that he had been born on Monday. Reminded of an old nursery rhyme about a man born on Monday, the thugs named the creature "Solomon Grundy".

If you reply like a normal person and provide links to your claims, why would you get banned? I am not sure if your poor English is to blame, but your posts are more often than not indistinguishable from gibberish.

I have observed Solomon's posts sufficiently to believe his English comprehension is more than adequate. His deliberately tangential remarks are a form of trolling. I have no intention of banning him at present, but I shall simply delete posts that lack any cohesive, relevant contribution to the thread. (This, or any other thread.)

Sounds fair then but most of my information that i have cannot give out to the general public so i try to slip out things in my own gibberish way

    You are welcome
    Solomon Grundy
In 1944, this creature rose from the swamp, with tremendous strength and some dormant memories that for example allowed him to speak English, but not knowing what he was, and not remembering Cyrus Gold or his fate. Wandering throughout the swamp, he encountered two escaped criminals, killed them, and took their clothes. When they asked him his name, he simply muttered that he had been born on Monday. Reminded of an old nursery rhyme about a man born on Monday, the thugs named the creature "Solomon Grundy".

Then how about earths rotation speed? Is that dropping? Or the distance between the earth and the moon, is that increasing?
Growing up, i marveled at star-trek's science, and ignored the perfect society. Now, i try to ignore their science, and marvel at the society.

Imagine, being able to create matter out of thin air, and not coming up with using drones for boarding hostile ships. Or using drones to defend your own ship. Heck, using drones to block energy attacks, counterattack or for surveillance. Unless, of course, they are nano-machines in your blood, which is a billion times more complex..

Yes to both. The length of the day is increasing by 1.5 milliseconds per century and the Moon is receding by 3.8 cm per year.

I am confused. I don't know what you mean. Did you mean to say, "dropping, probably". If it was the latter then, as Janus has pointed out, there is no proably about it. The reduction is real.
