is the earths orbit dropping
no
I think the correct answer is not, "No," but is rather, "What the hell do you mean?"
real simple exaclty what i asked is the earths <orbit> dropping?
i reiterate my reply, in case you missed it : en oh - NO
there are sum scientists who believe that the planety orbit is in its self dropin'.the source was citted my predictions forum.
do you have a link ?
Please define what you mean by 'dropping'. This implies and up and a down. So what is the up relative to? What is the down relative to? Marnix's reply is likely intended to mean "I have no idea what you mean by dropping, but I can assure you that the Earth's orbit is not changing in any significant way."
I'm sure Marnix will clarify if the intent was different.
your a forum wizard and your not familiar with term space physic /all things are relative so top or bottom of the sun
you reply as though im un educated i merly ask a question and you question my very sanity whats this about trolls do think me a fool
That's what happens when you write as though you're uneducated.Originally Posted by lavender
Seriously, think about what you're asking. When one object orbits another, the orbital plane passes through both objects. So the earth's orbit cannot "drop" below the orbital planes of, say, all the other planets--if it did, then the earth would no longer be orbiting the sun, as its "orbital plane" would no longer go through the sun. To put it another way, if one half of the earth's orbit dips below the orbital planes of other planets, then the other half must rise above. So your question can be, "Is the inclination of the earth's orbit about the sun changing?" But, again, "dropping" makes no sense.
Oh I know this! Lemme see... up and down have something to do with ...gravity?Originally Posted by Ophiolite

i'm pretty certain that lavender is in search of something to give her a catastrophe in 2012 - now that her theory about a solar storm has been proven to be nothing but a storm in a teacup, i'm sure she's looking for anything that still might produce a catastrophe on the appointed date
even if the earth's orbit were decaying (as far as i'm aware there's no solid evidence for this at all) this type of change would only be noticeable over at least thousands if not millions of years - the earth's orbit in 2012 will be no different from what it is now
My recollection - which is not 100% on this point - is that the Earth's orbit is very slowly moving outwards from the sun, in the same way the moon is moving slowly further away from the Earth. The mechanism is the same - exchange of angular momentum via tidal influences - but because of the relative masses of the bodies involved, the change in the Earth's orbit is wholly insignificant.
Edited to include a missing of and a missing comma.
I'm trying to picture that. Interesting. Thanks.Originally Posted by Ophiolite

However, during the time period of 3000BC-3000AD, the Earth's orbit decreases by an average of 4 meters per century. Using this figure puts us about 16 centimeter (6.3 inches) closer to the Sun in 2012.
That's hilarious.Originally Posted by Janus

Would you like to share with us the source of these rather precise figures?Originally Posted by Janus

From a point of view that is earth ... those specifications mean jack.
But was fun seeing them , old history lesson are fun.
so fellow science nerds is there gona be a celestial alignment soon or is that bogus to as seen in the minority report magazine
Bogus
well quoted and thanks
has any body seen the solar system charts at maps.jpl.nasa.gov
Quite poor quality and have some bogus information in them.Originally Posted by lavender
could you supply a link to a better source
you stated that it had poor quality and bogus info im looking for the wealth of knowledge so please share
If i do that you will say agian thisOriginally Posted by lavender

so .. i will be banned... so whatever i say in the eyes of some is wrong because thier ego must be right ...
not trying to be a smart ass im just in the persuit of knowledge <better knowledge> the only dumn questions are unasked questions
well i agree but for some they only see one true nature of things from their point of view and man honestly theyr point of view is only a joke in the face of what things realy are.Originally Posted by lavender
If you reply like a normal person and provide links to your claims, why would you get banned? I am not sure if your poor English is to blame, but your posts are more often than not indistinguishable from gibberish.Originally Posted by SolomonGrundy
I have observed Solomon's posts sufficiently to believe his English comprehension is more than adequate. His deliberately tangential remarks are a form of trolling. I have no intention of banning him at present, but I shall simply delete posts that lack any cohesive, relevant contribution to the thread. (This, or any other thread.)
i agree wich is why im open minded please share a new source for sum better info thanx
Sounds fair then but most of my information that i have cannot give out to the general public so i try to slip out things in my own gibberish wayOriginally Posted by KALSTER
so no better source for info then?

use google to translate i do not imply nothing.Originally Posted by lavender

what specific data you need?
maybe an acurate source to track celestial orbit and allinment?
please and thanx![]()

Then how about earths rotation speed? Is that dropping? Or the distance between the earth and the moon, is that increasing?
Yes to both. The length of the day is increasing by 1.5 milliseconds per century and the Moon is receding by 3.8 cm per year.Originally Posted by Zwolver
I am confused. I don't know what you mean. Did you mean to say, "dropping, probably". If it was the latter then, as Janus has pointed out, there is no proably about it. The reduction is real.Originally Posted by Jeff1244
