Why the new thread? Has the original hit an upper limit in posts or pages or something?

Something like that. Long threads tend to bog down a forum engine. Besides, this is more neat.

    Right now:

    Different World - Iron Maiden
I can't wait to get to the gig. It's in July. Too far away.
    _________

And the next song will be:

Just Like You Imagined - Nine Inch Nails
That song was used in the trailer of the movie 300. Okay, that was something totally random...

Showing good taste, though - my favourite metal band.

Currently hooked (completely opposite to Maiden) on Katie Melua's "If you were a sail boat"!

    Sonne is excellent.

And, in juxtaposition, I'm currently listening to Bell & Sebastian, "Another Sunny Day".

No offence to you, but I HATE that song! Maybe heard it too much with SA Idols trials, or him possibly being a child molester.

I love those songs. Black Hole Sun is one of the best songs of the 90's, and I love that weird music video. I'm a fan of creepy and shocking videos. :P

    Chicken and Corn - Annihilator

It never fails to amuse me when a band makes a song that is totally weird.
And a thrash metal band singing about Chicken and Corn is weird!

After that I will listen: I'm not Jesus - Apocalyptica feat. Corey Taylor.

They did remix for NIN ( Nine inch nails ) on their year zero remix album ( a version of me Im not - track 11 ) thats really quite good - probably some of the best remixes I heard from them ( NIN ) in a while .

The other remixes - that are good IMO Is the last track ( 14 - Zero Zum )

And Ladytrons version of, " The beginning of the End " ( track 4 )

Other than that the rest are pretty medicore but, if you havent already heard it , those first 2 I mentioned are defintely worth a listen.

Ian Anderson still puffing away at that flute like a nutter?

Must buy some Tull - start with Thick as a Brick and Aqualung, I s'pose.

Actually, I've currently got Dire Straits - Making Movies and Love Over Gold on rotation.

Not bad for a 62(?) year old!!

I've seen him live a couple of times, and shook his hand :P

Yeh, I mostly like "intelligent DnB" as it's called. Artists like LTJ, Seba&Paradox, Omni Trio (Renegade snares), Doc Scott, Photek, and High Contrast, amongst others. I really prefer that type of DnB, with ambient basslines, and a bit of jazz and funk thrown in, to really dark, grimy DnB (Although I have been known to 'skank out' on many occassions ).

I also like some dance, some techno (LFO and 'Future prophecy' are good), and some bassline house.

Those are the main things I like, but having played the drums for 5 years, I've dipped my hand in a bit of everthing, and have quite a wide range of tastes. Notably I like alot of funk and jazz, for some of the funky grooves and technicalities, and some 'swing' and 'big band' purely for the drum solo's.

I also like various rock artists too. UB40 are legends (from birmingham where I live) amongst others. I also went to see a progressive rock band called 'YES' (From the 60's...yes...they came on in zimmerframes!) with my dad, and ended up really liking all the weird sounds and time patterns, especially the drum solos.

....Man I could talk all day about music. What about you then? You into DnB?

I'm so jealous at you. I would want to see them live.
I stumbled upon this band by accident few months ago, and I instantly fell in love with it. Their music is so wonderful that I can't stop smiling while listening to their music.

Same here, I heard someone playing 'In my pocket' and really liked it, so I found out about the Cat Empire, and got an album. The tunes are all real feelgood tunes as you say, and the sound is so original...it almost makes me laugh in places, when he starts doing the vocal solos, lol!...perfect for summer.

When I saw them live it was only quite a small venue, with a handful of people, so i was right close to the stage. The vocal solo was mad, and the trumpets were wicked too!

As Above So Below - is a good album

Songs - listen to 'Jesus Wept' or 'Deja Voodoo'

Here's some samples off Amazon (scroll down) unfortunately not Jesus Wept tho

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/As-Above-Bel.../dp/B000024ZPG

And my space has some samples, my favourites 'Who Killed Big Bird'

    http://www.myspace.com/barryadamson

Have you ever heard of Karen Gibson Rock and Fluid? She's a New Yorker and a bit of a rapping poet, the backing music by Fluid is ace, here's a link to some of her samples
