Pink Floyd are to release their first new album in 20 years.

The legendary band will unveil "The Endless River" in October, their first new record since 1994's "The Division Bell." The album is based on a series of tracks originally recorded in 1994 and previously intended for release under the title "The Big Spliff." Following the death of Pink Floyd keyboardist Richard Wright in 2008, David Gilmour and Nick Mason headed back into the studio to expand on the existing tracks and add some vocals to the songs.

However, fans hoping the news paves the way for a long-awaited reunion tour from the band are set for disappointment - a spokesman tells British newspaper The Sun on Sunday that the rockers will not be hitting the road to promote the album.

In 20 years? I don't wanna wait that long. I'll be 38 and will have already moved on to poorer music.

No, this is the first album they made in 20 years not that they are going to make an album in 20 years.

I am frightened at the Jimi Hendix biopic in the pipeline. The better it is then the more I will hate it.

Not if it is your family that is being killed. Would you hate it more then?

If you're thick, you should be able to get a love-handle on what he means.

Maybe I didn't understand your comment...

I took that as meaning the good things Jimi said about love for everyone you'd think that wouldn't be a good idea because those who don't want to love are going to take advantage of those who do.

Please tell me if my thinking is wrong, thanks.

No nothing along those lines (still not quite sure what you mean). I just meant that he is such a towering figure that any attempt to portray him is going to do him a disservice.

If it comes close to being realistic then we are going to substitute the poorer version for the real one.

If the portrayal is obviously poor then that won't happen and we will be left with the man as he was .

"Wish You Were Here" =all that is needed by Fink Floyd
"Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes that you can do these things. Among them are a few Texas oil millionaires, and an occasional politician or businessman from other areas. Their number is negligible and they are stupid."

At the risk of sounding like a pretentious twat I think you also need the mono vinyl version of Piper at the Gates of Dawn. It's got a better version of 'Bike' than on Old Masters and sounds incredible. I wish I had never needed to have sold my copy, as the original would now cost a few hundred, but I suspect it may have been reissued since then on heavy vinyl as a collector edition or suchlike, which if it true to the 60s release will blow your socks off.

Why buy the vinyl when you can download it for free? Seems like a waste of money for something you can get for nothing.I've heard also they usually make duplicates of albums if they sell well enough so that too will become another option and you can't tell the difference from the original.

I've only heard the vinyl copy - I wouldn't know whether or not a digital download would sound as good, especially on a decent hi-fi system, but if it does then it's worth hearing, even if you have the stereo version of Piper.

I've listened to it on youtube and it is very good quality. I'd recommend it to be listened to by anyone who is into Pink Floyd to hear what they started with. I've found ways to download anything for free and if you look around you can find those ways as well.

I wouldn't say it is pretentious to try to get the best version of that LP as possible. If I could get a hold of a vinyl version of Piper at the Gates of Dawn I would -I had no idea you still could.

I remember Dylan said that anyone was free to download his stuff as the quality was so crap.

All the same it is a bit depressing listening to that Barrett stuff when you remember how the story developed (except for how brilliant it is).

Yes ,really easy to download for free
