On most computers today the best background sizes are.

    1. 1920 X 1080
    2. 1920 X 1200

My own preference leans towards darker backgrounds so my screen icons are not to hard to find because of an over busy bright colored BG. I normally keep most of my screen icons on the left side, so I keep that in mind when looking for great BG's. However post whatever you personally like. An example of what I like is below.

Most of these images look hot and sweaty.

You said to Poste cool backgrounds. Perhaps like a stream running into a waterfall amongst water lilies etc.

You know you have compromised the available Poste Spacing for2013? westwind.

Yeah, I sometimes like the cool waterfall setting. But your 3rd line doesn't make any sense to me.

It's odd that I'm exactly the same way. Icons on the far left and everything.

We're so much alike. Right down to the toothless smile and goofy goggles!

I would quite like this one if I could find a big enough picture.

Is this Thread a takeover move? From the Mother Country? I don't believe for a moment the image showing what porports to be London. That's the Whitehouse. ( The new White House after you burnt the old one down.)

westwind puts in all the infrastructure and suddenly, out of the woodwork, emerge Members who had concealed their Artistic leanings from the rest of TSF.

I haven't anything against sensitivity. It's ArKanes Avatar that upsets me. I t watches me after I have logged off..

When your computer has Awesome Power, you should show that it does with a background that has the same:

This is a photo I took a couple of hours ago. I believe it is the latest in the year that I have seen Crocus blooming. These were in one of my horse pens, facing north. I may set it as my desktop image, replacing a rather interesting chess set that has held that spot for some time.

I tend to favor dark backgrounds that lack any business on the left side where my icons are and your background fits that description very well.

My backgrounds change daily and if I don't like what comes up automatically I change it to something more to my liking. I've collected many thousands of background quality pictures and rarely use the same background twice. I go through between 40-45 backgrounds every month.

There are many programs that can help you deal with many thousands of pictures and I've probably tried most of them at one time or another. The program I consider the best is ThumbsPlus Pro Ver 9.0. At times in the past I've had over 100,000 pictures of many format types and Thumbs handles them with ease. I even had a directory with over 30,000 pictures in it and when I select it in Thumbs it will list all 30,000+ thumbnails in less than 10 seconds. One nice feature the program has it can compare and list all the similar pictures so you can easily find and delete any duplicates.

Speaking of visiting options for the Faroe Islands, I came across the following:

Faroe Islands, DenmarkThis pair of identical igloos is near the village of Kvivik, in the Faroe Islands off the coast of Denmark. Each structure is about 300 square feet and features a kitchen, living room and loft with a double bed. Each igloo goes the extra eco-friendly mile with a lush green roof, and both are surrounded by mountain and ocean views. They're available for vacation rental for $795 a night (two-night minimum).

I find it interesting that there have been almost 7,000 views about this thread yet only 67 people have said anything or even less posted anything. Come on now people who look in but do not post, lets see what you think is a good picture to use as a background.

I believe this image is tasteful enough for posting as an example of imagery reflected. If the mods think otherwise, I will accept their opinion on the matter.

I could be wrong, but I believe this picture is from the following movie. Currently in my Netflix queue.

    Elysium - 2013 - NR

In this dystopian thriller set in 2159, the wealthiest humans move to a fabulous private space station, while life on Earth grows ever more grim. With no other options, an ex-con agrees to join a risky mission to bring balance to the two worlds.

Cast: Matt Damon, Jodie Foster, William Fichtner, Alice Braga, Sharlto Copley, Diego Luna, Michael Shanks, Talisa Soto

    Genre: Action Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Sci-Fi Thrillers, Sci-Fi & Fantasy

I was never a fan of the horror genre. Then again, many other people find bears to be horrifying while to me, they are just a fact of life. You always take a look around before you step outside the door when you reside in the urban interface and wildlife habitat.

Skyscrapers near water offer the opportunity for some spectacular reflected light shots.

For contrast, here is a sunset shot of Peel Castle.

I love the way light is reflected in the water, gives the reflection the quality of almost being an impressionist painting.
