delightful city
Daughter works and lives in Zurich for one more year....I hope to get back to Paris. What a lovely city. I discovered that my rusty old French started to return.
What a lovely picture you posted. I posted one of where I live a bit back....with Never's help. This is new to me.
That was CosmicTraveler that posted Paris Picture.
Oh I didn't post that. I have yet to post any good pics in this thread, at least I don't think I have. I am hoping to post a pic of my brain (had a recent mri) and i feel compelled to prove I have one, even if it is all full of holes.. ok just one... but its big ish.
I was in a major car wreck....squished between two cars.....jaws of life.....ambulance, etc....and I was trapped in there for 40 minutes. I was already claustrophobic due to a childhood incidence....I am over the top now......the noises are fine but they have to make me really not care to get me in there....
Here's a quick shot taken from where I work on a rainy night last year...https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-N...iny nights.jpg
Although we live over a mile from the Yukon River, we have had a plethora of dragonflies hanging out around the yard and neighborhood as of about 10 days ago. They are delightful insects, almost constantly in motion and there seems to be a group of them traveling as a winged squadron, lol, not kidding. Frequently, when I ride one of the horses around the 5 km trail, we will have an escort for the first kilometer, lose it as we travel the pine forest, and then pick up another escort on the final two kilometers of the journey back to the stable.
The ones that I have encountered look quite a lot like this one. Apparently, with the discovery of another new variety last week, we have 42 species of dragonflies in the Yukon. That's really good news for we have no shortage of mosquitoes for them to graze on.

That is our log home. Gambrel roofs are frequently associated with barns but they add a lot of living space to a home as well, without the need to bulid a complete wall on the second story. At the time of construction, the cash flow was somewhat limited and a lot was done with sweat equity and bartering. Here is another photo taken in winter with a storm moving in, making for a dramatic backdrop.

We could be neutering the planet's ability to repopulate its forests as well.
However, if that is how they perform an orchiectomy in Hawaii, remind me not to visit the hospitals there.
I have just recently discovered the delights of organic Medjool dates. They are exceptionally large, soft and sweet, completely unlike the varieties commonly used in baking.

What Are Medjool Dates? (with pictures)Quote:
Medjools are often informally known as the “king of dates,” the “diamond of dates,” or the “crown jewel of dates” in reference to their elevated position. They are what is known as a “soft” date. The fruits are usually categorized as soft, dry, or semi-dry in reference to their texture and taste. Soft dates are usually considered to be the most exquisite in part because of how much harder they are to grow, as well as how much more susceptible they are to loss by birds and insects.

I stumbled upon a means of getting 5lb of dates for free many years ago. I contacted the Saudi Embassy in Washington DC and told them I wanted information about Islam and the Hajj because I was considering converting. Not only did I get lots of pamphlets, I received a 5lb box of dates addressed to me supposedly as a gift from the high prince of saudi arabia himself. Just be sure to make the request during Ramadan. lol
I've been using the Hubble XDF as my work background. It's hard to not just sit and stare at it, though.

Shockingly beautiful insect.
I have some of the standard green ones in my garden, but I have to keep moving them off my flowers because they eat my bees. I put them in the greenery out back and hope they will put a dent in the mosquito and fly populations.
This looked like a cool background.

Took a friend to Volcano. He'd never been there.....and we got there on a day where one of the plumes was just spewing....and it started to hurt to breathe! Not healthy for people with asthma or lung conditions!!!

They are truly beautiful.....there are places at certain times of the month, usually around the 23rd for some reason, if you go snorkeling in the right places you run into them....you just leave them alone, but strangely, sometimes they seek humans out an brush against them, almost as seekin to be petted. They take your breath away.
Not a place for a casual walk.

I have a program that ranomizes my desktop and this one came up yesterday. Couldn't help but stare at it in awe.
I like it. Sorta makes you wish that it was a high resolution photograph so that we may zoom in to see more of the details, since we aren't likely to be there ourselves to witness an alien world where volcanoes spew something other than lava.

Pansies and violas are among my favorite flowers, laregly because there is such diversity and intensity of color among them. This is an interesting perspective of a pansy...
