Foxes are a most photogenic subject and are to be found in many of the regions inhabited by humans.

When foxes are out of coat, they can be very scraggly and weedy looking like this Swift Fox.

Few things are cuter than a kit fox, in my opinion. We frequently have some youngsters wandering around the ranch most years, which our cat soon teaches to be wary of human habitation.

This fox is one that usually frequents our property as part of it's route, hunting mice by the hay sheds and checking out the compost pile. I have not seen tracks for a few days. The heavy snowfall will be making life difficult for many creatures, an advantage for the mice and voles but a definite disadvantage for many of the predators. They will turn to easier prey such as small pets left untended which will then turn the public ire against them.
