This is what it is all about MeteorWayne. Stirring the Pot of Science to see what happens. Nothing is built without practical application. And most new discoveries rely on accidental fall out from attempts to seek and find. Having a trained mind to realise something may be important is another thing. I posted in the right forum, and now, following your advice, sound advice I might add. I have resorted to this Forum of sometimes imagination.

Did I miss something? New lyrics to a Willy Wonka song, perhaps?

Dear thropo, MeteorWayne was mean to me. He gave me an ultimation. He said, in effect, pls don't fart around in the Physics Forums posting bullshit when you know it's bullshit, it wastes everybodys time with no obviouse benefit to the Physics discipline. ( see my Poste in Thread '' Perpetual Electrical Energy"" or something like that.( I dont want to leave this poste ),. Are you frightened of MeteotWayne.? I become very anxious when he jumps on me, rattles me no end. Puts me off my game for weeks afterwoods and I begin to think he dosn't like me anymore. One day I'm going to poste in a Physics Forum and will be acclaimed for my insightful analysis into the Quantum Theory of Ergonomics as related to Inertia of Ideas in Physics. westwind.

Hi Westwind, I promise I'm not stalking you, I'm just working through the various forums on here (this is a recent discovery for me).

I wouldn't worry too much about people attacking you if they don't like your theories (I certainly don't). There is a Perelman quote that says something like 'if the theory is proved that is praise enough (Math's is my deepest interest, but I was a bit worried about dipping my toes in there and people just baffling me with equations).

Many radical new theories test the 'standard models' and those that break them are regarded as the greatest breakthroughs, but naturally these are also met with the greatest hostility (Darwin's is still be refuted today, 150 years later). 'whatever does not kill you only makes you stronger'.

My theories (i have a number, increasing in complexity and brilliance) are all pretty radical, and i'm already getting a bit of a reputation as a 'dangerous' free-thinker on here. Will they be controversial? No doubt. Will the 'authorities' stop me posting? No way! Stay true to your ideals, and stay strong, fellow traveller... I have a feeling that this forum might just get red hot (without wanting to give too much away) in the next few months!!!

No. I'm not afraid of MW, nor am I afraid of any poster, Mods included. Anonymity does it for me. I admit to being weak on some subjects but there is no way anyone here can say with 100% certainty that I'm really that stupid or dumb. No one knows who I am or what I do, and this allows me to access any subforum without fear. I've been tempted sometimes to reveal a few things about myself but then that just limits my participation. Does it drive me nuts when someone is giving me the gears in my own field of expertise? Nah because that's part of the fun. Go with the flow and never take bullshit from anyone.

Argue but use tact & plan ahead. Some of my favorite posts are ones where I had it pretty much prepared days before, anticipating certain responses. Impromptu retorts are more susceptible to error, like this one. I try and write threads that require the reader to ask me for my definition or meaning of whatever it is I'm talking about, even though they know damn well. Look closely and you will observe this is a regular habit of responders, especially here. That means to not put all your eggs in one basket when posting, keep a reserve and only use it if necessary. Keep posts short, more likely to be read in their entirety. Now after saying all this, I'll have to change it up a bit. Still, there is absolutely no reason to fear any internet character. Its only words, paragraph vs paragraph. We have no idea whether the other guy is smart, dumb, is or isn't plugged in to Google.... no matter what anyone says.

Now you have to ask if I just filled your head with a wagonload of bullshit.

Naaaah, I know you haven't zinjanthropos. Thanks for your insightful acknowledgement of my brain capacity ; "" A WAGON LOAD "". And I know that you realise that I have fall back capacity should plan B fail. I always revert then to plan A.. You disarm your enemies by sending ZULUS and Bugle blowing, flag carrying detachments forward to count how many rifles oppose you. Still, they say bullshit baffles brains, but I guess we have some battle hardened Veterans here who are, as you say, experts at preparing elephant traps. That's OK. The fool who can't read still stumbles somehow into the street where all his desires are met. In his ignorance he is unwary of possible dangers and excepts the goods offered and goes home happy. Thanks for watching my back, I'll gird my Loins and enter the Fray once more. "" Once more against a worthy foe he turned, lets together you and I turn ourselves into a formible David. westwind.

I thought you would give the standard response like.....What's your definition of wagon? Hang in there bud.

It's just possible a change of tactics might baffle them. For a moment or two anyway. But I love them, all, there had it otherwise been decreed, indeed go I . Of course I am a bit of a butterfly trying to land on a fast freight train. One day I shall alight, not only observing all the treasures contained in the train, not only going in a certain direction, but with a positive destination. And that will be terrible. John Galt was right. I am indeed a Wild Spirit...clumbsy, falling down, cracked and broken, but still capable of fondness for the frailities of the stumbling living World.

Hi westwind, I've been away from this forum for about 2 years now and I've already had a run in with MeteorWayne. I wouldn't take it personal, I believe that's his natural forum style. But if you want to post in Math and Physics forums you do need to have all your ducks in a row. But I'm sure some of the posters just copy all the formulas that get posted, but if your not qualified to challenge what you read your better off in another subforum.

zinjanthropos, Long time no talk to, how have you been? I've been posting in a couple of other forums that I like very much. Someone actually posted in an old topic that I was monitoring and I thought I'd check out the old forum. Imagine my surprise when I hit the "What's New" button and 170 topics came up. If you have a couple of minutes bring me up to date on what's been happening here.

I went AWOL myself for a long while and when I came back there seemed to be a power struggle going on, not really sure. I believe a change in ownership took place but I really didn't follow much of what happened. Some people did break off to form a forum of their own (TSF) but it is sorely lacking in numbers. Some members here including myself belong to both but I rarely go to TSF anymore. TSF just doesn't feel right, seems exclusive and here it's more like a public forum which I prefer. Couple of the guys that left were real good, knew their stuff but threw it into your face if you so much as got a minus sign or anything trivial wrong. Fun reading but it was always the same old thing.

Personally I had a big cancer scare this year. I documented it in the Health subforum thinking it might be interesting to read from a patient's perspective. Anyway I luckily survived it. I like it here, some nice folks about and the Mods are simply the ........... (Words cannot describe).

I was going to say I would have thought your post count would have been higher. I actually quit posting here about a half year before the ownership change. They sent me a letter asking me to come back and I did for awhile and I changed my avatar and ID to go anonymous, but just didn't feel up to posting in more than one science forum at that time. I have a different ID in the SciForum.com and am close to 6000 posts now. Plus I'm also a member of Hypography Science Forums. It's a much smaller forum but they have a couple of posters I'm very impressed with.

I'm glad you survived your scare. I broke my foot in January and also documented the whole process of surgery and recovery in the health & fitness subforum of SciForum. The other day I did a search for Inow and found him in another science forum also saw DrRocket with a new less intimidating avatar.
