In my Lifetime? I n Australia? Norman Lindsay, Watercolourist. Charles Blackman, Schoolgirls, Albert Tucker, War Years, and the painter of the Ned Kelly Series. ( His name escapes me, I'm hurting too much to move off this chair to find out, but I knew some of these Artists and many others who were just as good but never made money. Norman Lindsays Watercolours, a selection was sent to America when the Japanese Threatened Australia, by Rose Lindsay his wife and business partner. Unfortunately, moving across America on a Freight Train, the preceding carriage caught fire, resulting in the loss of all the paintings. As these paintings were mainly of unreal naked women, ageless of course, and creatures from a dubious place, not heaven, we thought the Yanks had did a Phar Lap on us. Now that's something you in America did not know, like the burning of the White House. Van Goph without a doubt. Monet. I loved them all. westwind.

In no particular order Constable, Dali, Rembrandt, Monet (or was it Manet) and, perhaps No. 1, Turner.

Dear sculptor. Phar Lap was born in New Zealand. He became the greatest Australian that ever lived. He went to America on a visit and suffered a terrible death. His name shall live for evermore in New Zealand and Australia. Google Phar Lap Australia up on the Internet. Let me know your feelings. westwind (refer poste 6. ).

Phar Lap ...... His name shall live for evermore in New Zealand and Australia.
I think Phar Lap is about to be overtaken by the sprinting lady, Black Caviar. Black Caviar 'in very good condition' after arriving in Newmarket PDFPrintE-mail | International
I suppose it depends on how many more races she can win before someone beats her. Still, 21 straight wins is pretty spectacular even if she never wins again.

As for artists. The Ned Kelly series westwind was thinking of was painted by Sidney Nolan. Good work but not among my top three.

    Impressionist. Renoir.
    Modern Australian. Jeffrey Smart.
    Favourite woman painter. Margaret Preston.

Of course, ask me tomorrow and I'd be likely to come up with a completely different list.

I like a lot of artists but my favorite pieces have to be Van Gogh's Starry Night and Starry Night Over the Rhone.
