I was thinking about buying Ian McEwan's latest book Solar to read on my kindle on the bus when lo! - here's a review in RealClimate of all places. Having read the review I can't resist reading the book.

    Solar

OK. It may be a while before I get to it.

No worries. I just took on three new projects. By the time you reply, I might actually have some free time again to do some personal reading... or, at the very least, I'll be traveling more and have flight time to tackle a new book.

Kindle makes it too easy and quick and cheap, but I want to save Solar for the flight to England (volcanoes permitting) in a few weeks time. This year I've read, mostly on Kindle and mostly on the bus:
    Our First Revolution, Michal Barone
The Fourth Part of the World, Toby Lester
The Science of Liberty, Timothy Ferris
The Dark Tide, Andrew Gross - good yarn badly written, but free on Amazon
Shutter Island, Dennis Lehane - mediocre yarn well written
    The Selfish Gene, Richard Dawkins
20,000 leagues Under the Sea, Jules verne
The Island of Doctor Moreau, H.G.Wells (almost finished)

The last two are part of The Ultimate Science Fiction Collection which includes 30 novels (some of them pretty bad) for $1.
