I love music! I was thinking there should be a sub category for music, but I haven't seen much evidence to suggest it'd get much attention :P.

I'm into loads of rock/pop, I've been to Leeds festival a few times and I've seen lots of bands live.

    Favourite bands include:

The Smiths, Placebo, Biffy Clyro, Foals, Metronomy, Mystery Jets, Led Zeppelin, White Lies.

I've seen all of them live apart from the ones that aren't together anymore.

Well, my favourite music is always techno, music from 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s and rock n roll and disco and R & B from the 1980s and 1990s, soul. So, I have too many favourite bands, male singers and female singers.

I have wide-ranging tastes in music.
I am from the UK and a big fan of the type of music played by the late Reginald Leopold and the Palm Court Orchestra. I suppose it could be called "light orchestral".
Another fine exponent of this type of music was the violinist, and band leader, Max Jaffa.
I must add that, as far as I am aware, he did not have any links with the production of a well-known British small cake or biscuit.

I like Hip Hop and my favorite artist is Eminem

    YouTube mix for Eminem(100)
    Eminem - YouTube

It's easy to find any music you like in YouTube. The YouTube search tool at the top of the page will find any artist and a selection of their work or any song and a selection of all the artists that have published it.

If you like very raunchy stuff, YouTube might require you to register with them, but take it from me they don't censor anything. This thread seems to have petered out and I can see why, boring, boring, boring. It doesn't have to be that way.

Heh, sorry, not my style! The furthest I go in that direction is Pendulum (which isn't really that direction!).

I'm not a big hip-hop or dubstep fan. I'm more of an ex punk/metal fan who mellowed into hippydom via 70's and 80's electronica.

This is more my style (seeing as I made it myself!)

I continuously open my ears to all sorts of music and will happily consider any recommendation thrown my way.

However, to me, nothing has ever been able to match the incredible sensations of both elation and sorrow when I first heard Death's Individual Thought Patterns and Electric Wizard's Black Masses. Since then, I have been a raging metal fan.

I like most everything except Rap and the 'avant garde music' of John Cage and such losers.

Probably I best like Swing Band era music of the crooner and torch singer variety. Close on the heels of that is Classic symphonic music, Spanish guitar, Edith Piaf and her followers, a bit of King Crimson and Sun House. I enjoy the music of Gene Autry, the Sons of the Pioneers and Marty Robbins as well. I can listen to some heavy metal, but only in small doses. I can handle Billie Holiday in small doses as well, but could listen to Julie London for a very long time. "Space" music.

Like I said, most everything but Rap and noise.

I have a pretty ecliptic mix but my favorite songs tend to be driven by clear vocals (espically female), a mix of acoustics and electrical and often a prominent piano. Evanescence has yet to make a song I don't like. I also like Train, Maroon 5, Coldplay among the younger bands.

I still like Yes, U2, ELP, Rush, Jethro Tull, and Heart from my younger days.

I've got a country side as well, but not really the older stuff, but newer stuff with some Southern Rock mix. Enjoy Lady Antebellum, Garth, Rascal Flats, Taylor Swift and most of Brad Paisley's work and some of the humorous songs like Currington's People are crazy.

I like many of the older folk songs from the Appalachians and New England whaling traditions...probably a hold over from learning dulcimer and fife when I was younger. I play a little piano and flute as well--though I'm pretty rusty. I think many more people should play music.

Always been fascinated by Pandora's Music Genome Project. It takes a couple weeks of feedback but it really does a good job tailoring it's selection to music you like--including bands you hadn't heard before.

Music that i buy with my credit card that arrives the same time the card is handed back

My music values change each day, I enjoy a song that can make me feel upset when i need to be, I enjoy a song that can give me that exciting emotion when i want to go for a dance or drink, I like a song that can give me a feeling of courage and motivation such as wanting to study or write a letter ect.

Symphonic metal like epica, within temptation, apocalyptica, asrai, afterforever etc etc. That and tons and tons of other goth-ish and darkwave ish and classicrock stuff. And than to think I'm more a rather nerdy hippie. ^-^

I like a variety from classical, and opera, to indie rock.

Lately, i have been hypnotized by Yeah Yeah Yeah. I have tickets to Karen O's psycho opera; however, I don't know that I will be able to make it because of work pile up.

    Oh well.

I like my symphonic metals and classic rock. I also listen to a fair share of industrial and darkwave. At the moment its 30ties songs though, nice comfy and calming for doing homework while listening.

Hmm, I like all kinds, hard to really narrow it down... though I am pretty stoked that Soundgarden got back together and a new album is expected to come out soon.

In February 2011 it was announced on Soundgarden's homepage that they had started recording new album On March 1, 2011, Chris Cornell confirmed that Adam Kasper would produce the new album.[78] Four days later, the band stated it would consist of material that was "90 percent new" and the rest consisting of updated versions of older ideas. They also noted that they had 12 to 14 songs that were "kind of ready to go". Although Cameron claimed the album would be released in 2011, the recording was prolonged as Thayil said that "the more we enjoy it, the more our fans should end up enjoying it.". Thayil also reported that some songs sound "similar in a sense to Down on the Upside" and that the album would be "picking up where we left off. There are some heavy moments, and there are some fast songs." The next day, Chris Cornell reported that the new album would not be released until the spring of 2012.

I listen to whatever I enjoy, and try not to restrict myself to certain genres. Beautiful music transcends genre. And that's where I leave it off.

I really love music. Wish I could play. I love Folk music from different countries.
Norway, Sweden, Balkan, Turkey, Iran, USA and many others.
I like Classic music too but more melodies than just certain genre.
Eric Satie Gnossienne and Gymnopedie has cool melodies.
The starting themes of Goldberg variation of Bach. Chopin Raindrop Prelude.
Others like that sounds good too. Then I love old Blues and Rock'nRoll
and Popmusic and so on. I 'm rather naive in taste for music.

Two ends of the spectrum, it seems!

Being in the younger generation, I grew up with Hip Hop. At first, I just listened to it as a little kid because it was "cool" and "popular". Then, I started to genuinely like it. The thing is ... a lot of hip hop is simple-minded and appealing in a broad way. A good beat amplified by a loud bass, an enticing flow with some swag, and that's good enough for almost any kid to bob his head to. Now, I listen to some mainstream stuff. I think a lot of the big rappers have s#!t lyrics, but sometimes the song has a great beat, so I'm okay with listening to that. Outside of sex+money+cars+drugs+swag times a thousand, I mainly listen to less popular artists who rap more about their struggles and life in general.

Surprisingly, I also listen to classical, mainly since I started playing the piano/keyboard. I find a lot of piano pieces from composers like Beethoven and Mozart very beautiful and relaxing. Even more so, I've began appreciating how creatively clever they are now that I'm composing my own. Besides these two, I'll listen to anything in between for various reasons. I find some Alternative music beautiful. Some indie pop songs are fun. Country's not that bad. I just don't like the idea of restricting yourself to a particular family of genres. You miss out on a lot of good stuff.
