What comedians/comedies do you watch and what about their humour do you like?

I like Lee Evans, Al Murray Jim Carrey, Jerry Seinfeld

Lee Evans for his matter of fact-we all can relate humour.
Al Murray for his political humour.
Jim Carrey for his free spirited immature humour.
Seinfeid for his clean sophisticated humour.

    What are yours?

    Jim Carrey
Canada has been producing fine comedic talents for years, and Jim Carrey is definitely the best of the new breed.

Jerry Seinfeld - He makes good observations.

Gilbert Gottfried - I enjoy it when he delivers endless variations of jokes with the same premises. I also like it when he prolongs the delivery of a punchline as an excuse for continually repeating something foul. He also does an awesome Seinfeld.

Steven Wright - I love deadpan, the fact the he delivers paradoxical one-liners is a bonus.

Louis C.K. - I like his existential analyses of his life, he also has some good hyperbolic material - e.g. His bit about Deer.

Bill Cosby - In my opinion he's one of the best story tellers in comedy, if not the best.

Monty Python - In my opinion, they were the best comedy troupe there ever was - and I don't think there will ever be a sketch comedian/group that will be able to top their surrealist material.

Best comedy performance goes to Richard Pryor from Richard Pryor: Live in Concert (1979). A lot of Comedy stand-ups will date after awhile as the subject matter looses relevancy, however, after 40 years this stand up is still the best I’ve ever seen in my opinion.

George Carlin pretty much remains #1 for me.

Some of Woody Allen's standup from the 1960s was pretty brilliant, too.

    Richard Pryor also ranks high.

And completely agreed on the timeliness of comedy - comedy often dates worse than wet grocery bags. But some people manage to remain fresh, Groucho Marx stands as one big example. So much comedy, understandably, relies on current events within a certain culture, so comedy often dates and travels horribly. So if you think something is funny now, enjoy it... it likely won't be in 10 years...
