I want to start a website with a forum; It will relate to a few things that I am interested in and should look really nice (Professional status).
I just obtained a copy of Quark (I'll get photoshop soon) through unnameable means and want to use it with my average experiance to make my website pages, which I will in turn upload to whatever host I choose (I was looking at Host Monster). I know how to put all of the images and text in, and am currently e-mailing a few hosts and phpBB to find out how to make their software work, but I'm uncertain on how to do a few things in Quark.
1. What are the rules behind creating a link? I right clicked on an image and went to "Hyper link" and put down a URL for it to connect to; but how do I name each page under a hyper link? As in, how do I give each page a web address for the hyper link to connect to? How do I convert text to a hyper link?
2. How do you set the type so that it does not lay down its own background over the image underneath?
3. How do I make the pop-down menu button work? What about the "image button"? |

I recommend you adobe dreamweaver. Go and download the trial version and give it a shot. You will learn it after a week also go to this site:
http://www.w3schools.com/
there are many good tutorials. and also search on google for Dreamweaver tutorials.
good luck! |

Each page, depending on where you put them on the host, will be at the address www.yourdomain.com/yourpage
You can use this as the URL for hyperlinks.
Alternatively, some WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) programs have options to make a hyperlink that links to a page you have just created, without the need for a URL of sorts.
For better explanations of this and your other problems, I suggest you consult the help documentation of Quark and/or find a good tutorial. |

I just got Dream Weaver....now to learn how to use it _________________ Forget all that you know, achievements can only be accomplished by starting from nothing and selectively applying facts that are purely objective and absolutely necessary.

not a fan of dreamweaver , if u want to learn to develop websites properly (as a professional) do it from scratch. Even if its for a bit of fun Id recommend doing it without dreamweaver, but up 2 u of course. Even if your code is wrong dreamweaver 'alters' it to work... gd for u in the short term... but it produces naf code.
Just to I can provide an alternative, get on the w3 site and learnt the tutorials on html and css.
Also, im making the asumption youv never made a site before here so sorry if im telling u to go basic. gd luck |

Forums are pretty easy to install to your website.
I like dreamweaver when using the option of splitting the page between visual and code, however you can't see when writing .PHP files. _________________
