Whatever the real reason, we'll never know the turth. Probably just some spy technology that they do not want someone to get their hands on, or are testing a new weapon . _________________ "Victory is in trying. Defeat is in not". - SVRDW. |

The russinas say that plenty of hydrazine satellites have fallen into the atmosphere before without such 'alarm'. The American government is getting so brazen about there power they hardly even try and make a decent excuse anymore. Its just a response to chinas technological showcase last year. _________________ 'Aint no thing like a chicken wing' |

I'm actually surprised this topic didn't come up sooner...and that it hasn't been responded to more.
Some questions that probably should be addressed:
1. Do we care? (If the government needed an excuse to test the feasibility of shooting down a satellite, whatever...)
2. Do we know what happened? (As far as we know, we have a dummy government correspondent, a video of a missile being fired from a ship, and an explosion. Do we know it happened? Do we know they hit anything?)
3. If the government really was concerned about the "enemy" finding spy equipment, what would their actions be? Do people honestly think that the government is going to get on world television and say "Uh, we launched a spy satellite with new technology on it, and now have to shoot it down to keep it all a secret." Which is more likely? That the US government is going to talk openly about its spy program and implementations? Or that the government is going to make up a cover story to cover it's goof?
4. Do we know that this satellite was ours?
5. How many times did it take to succeed? (As far as we know, they fired at the thing all day before finally making a hit.)
6. Isn't anyone concerned that the government spent billions on a satellite that went up and supposedly failed shortly after deployment, resulting in more tax-payer dollars going towards fixing the screw-up?
7. Do we know that the satellite actually failed? (For all we know, we deployed a spy satellite, and the "enemy" knocked it out. Or, we deployed a spy satellite, and made a fool of ourselves with it, and consequently needed to down it fast.)
8. Who's been making threats towards the US with satellites? (Why the need for a "proof of concept"? _________________ Wolf

Why?
It might be considered prudent to be a little concerned about what the government is doing with one's money, especially when it involves shooting at things with a relatively transparent excuse for doing so. _________________ Wolf

Well you said it!
I am sick of hearing of the stupidity of Governments and Presidents.
All everyone does is debate debate and give their opinions but nothing ever gets done!
Fabian Socialists!
If people really gave a shit they wouldn't have even allowed Bush in, especially after the obvious devious methods he used in his previous elections.
I really don't think the leaders give a damn about the rest of the world to be honest. I think all they care about is what they are getting and that's it. _________________ xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

That's an awful high rant for someone who just moments ago said they didn't care what the government was doing. _________________ Wolf

I was being grouchy because the earthquake woke me up after 2 hours sleep and i was tired!
Of course i care but often you feel helpless!
I went along to all the protests about the Iraq war sent letters and did as much as i could along with lots of other people, did it make any difference?
Not one bit! Once they have made a decision that's it, no protestations will change their minds!
And i was sick of hearing everyone else moaning about the war and doing F*** all about it!
The problem is with the people in this country as well as many others is LETHARGY, LAZINESS and IGNORANCE!
People are 'armchair' moaners and complainers. If they got off their lazy bums and attended a protests or put their names to petitions the Governments might be forced to listen!
This is supposed to be a democracy (HA HA HA laugh LOUDLY)
The system of democracy only works if people use it.
The Governments love this apathy and ignorance because it means they can get away with most things.
When i get old and i'm on my last legs i'm going to go on one of those OAP tours in the Houses of Parliament and strap explosives in my incontinence knickers and finish what Guy Fawkes started.
I can see the headlines 'Grey Haired Granny Becomes Suicide Bomber'
(Yeah i am actually kidding MI5/MI6 i probably won't know who i am by then)
One of those satisfying tempting thoughts though!
They think it's ok to devastate and kill innocent civilians, let's see how they like it!
All this rubbish about having to get Saddam. They could have easily got hold of him with all their intelligence without causing all that rife.
As for blowing satellites out of the sky. They'll do it regardless and they won't care where the debris falls as long as it doesn't fall on their heads.
I wish people would collaborate
Instead they spend all their time debating that and debating this and arguing about that and arguing about this and who is wrong and who is right and who's the most clever and who is not and in the meantime the Government pushes policies through behind our backs whilst we're all too busy finding the right premise, the right word and polishing our nails because we think we're clever and we're doing something 'active' about the problems!
Bull crap!
It's Fabian Socialism at it's worse.
It's a sick joke.
I mean how long does it take for our human minds to come to the decision that something is just wrong?
If people really want peace in the world then all it takes is gut instinct to know that blowing up civilians and devastating countries is wrong.
Instead people see it as an intellectual exercise and a chance to brush up on their philosophies.
Whilst NOTHING substantial or REAL ever gets done! _________________ xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

P.S Can you imagine what any Alien Intelligent life that visited our planet must think?
From a distance it must look like a beautiful glowing ball of life, but as they neared the first thing they must see is all that crap and rubbish, thousands of pieces apparently, circling our Earth's atmosphere?(which will be added to soon of course!)
They must have to imagine what it must be like on the ground. A heaving mass of more crud.
And they wouldn't be far wrong!
If they have any intelligence they would run and flee! (before they get shot down by the Pentagon!)
Us humans are (not becoming, always have been, learning history is a painful
occupation!) the most disgustingly abysmal creatures that have ever walked this Earth, we have great potential to change things if we didn't believe our brains were so big, nor this fallacy that we are so special we can do what the hell we like and get away with it!
I should think the quicker this groaning Earth can shake our species off the better!
I often feel ashamed to be a part of this race. _________________ xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Maybe you just snored in tune to the earthquake's frequency... _________________ Wolf
