I'm sure everything has been thought of at one point or another. That doesn't mean that someone might not come out with something fresh once in a while. But that doesn't change the fact that almost every story is a twist of whatever stories the author had heard before writing it with a few personal twists thrown in.

Me as well. But we can be almost certain that both our ideas have been thought of before. That doesn't necessarily mean they've been written or even told in the way we will tell them. But they've been thought of.
