Administrator,
I think a "Quick Reply" provision will be helpful for many of our users as you can reply to the posts/topics on the same page they read them, i.e. there is no need to go to another page to type in a reply.
Please see into this...
Thanks,
Sudhamsu

| I've never used it elsewhere, so it's only clutter to me, i.e. there is no need to begin typing as I'm still pondering which button I should click. |

What I mean to say is, it's gonna be comfortable for many of the users. For example, not the whole of the world has high speed internet/broadband, it is not easy for those people to switch between pages to enter a reply.
Hmm...
Why don't we have a poll?
It will be easier to decide whether to put it or not.
An extra feature on the page won't be burden, will it? _________________

You can add a poll to this thread if you wish. AFAIK the admins are looking to upgrade the forum software somewhere in the future, which probably will include a quick reply box in any case. _________________ "Gullibility kills" - Carl Sagan

I don't understand... At the bottom of every page I see the "add reply" button...I don't have to change pages, just scroll down a bit.
If you mean you can put the reply on page 4 even though there are 12 pages I think that would overcomplicated things and make the thread lose continuity. _________________ “It’s no wonder that truth is stranger than fiction. Fiction has to make sense.” - Mark Twain |

"Quick reply" is a text entry box at the bottom of every page. You can type into that and "Submit" without loading a special "Post a reply" page. Slower connections may appreciate the quick reply because it's one less page to load. Some broadband posters may find it expedient too.
Personally, I like simplicity. I don't like a page full of options, alternate routes, trivial forum stats. With a nod to Marshall McLuhan: the browsing shouldn't be the content. |
