The Preon model which says that all fundamental particles are made of other particles called Preons. It explains quark properties ( color & charge). Why wasn't it accepted? _________________ Beyond Equations,

Because everything is electrons. Electricity. In my opinion of course.

Basically, proposed preon models were ruled out by collider experiments. Also, once string theory came on the scene, it looked so promising that scientists decided to concentrate largely on that instead of on preon models (says Wikipedia). _________________ "There is a kind of lazy pleasure in useless and out-of-the-way erudition." -Jorge Luis Borges |

| im not sure about this, but as far as i know noone has ever managed to split a proton... but im not a huge fan of reading. In my opinion until they manage to successfully split a proton into quarks, and stablize a quark in order to perform collision tests on it (they are only around for 1/100th a second otherwise) For all we know there could be an endless chain of smaller and smaller particles, all the way down to plancks length (perhaps further) One day someone might know if there are particles smaller than a quark which are its constituents, but i doubt we will see it in our lifetime |

Actually, I think that quarks have already been found and their properties are known.

How do you explain quark charges :- e/3, 2e/3 ( e is electronic charge) by simply electrons which, even if clubbed, would give integral multiples. _________________ Beyond Equations,
