Some of you may have noticed I've been extremely vain, and used a picture of myself as my avatar, But, in fact it's not vanity (look at it, how could it be?)

But, I have a suggestion, based on the following thought.

There are loads of members that I like a lot, an equal number, perhaps, that I like less. Even so, if I am talking to someone, love them or hate them, I find it good to have a mental image of the person I am talking to.

So now you all have an image of the "Guitarist" you talk to, I think it would nice for me to have an image of the person I am talking to.

So, the purpose of this thread is to encourage others to do the same as me, use a self-image an an avatar.

Yes but the Internet - a vrtual reality where some like to be hidden by nicks and avatars. Occasionally they are shy and embarrassed.
Personally I find it boring to be represented by my real characteristics.

Well, I put up a new avatar. This is me 2 nights ago at the bar. You can tell from my eyes (you could blindfold me with dental floss) that I'm 3 sheets to the wind....hammered......pickled.......shitfaced......listing 5 degrees to starboard.

I kinda like the idea of knowing what a person, that I talk to regularly, looks like.

I don't think people should use a picture of themselves as an avatar (MacGyver1968 being a good example why not too). One of the great things about the internet, is that it doesn't matter weather your black or white, male or female, 9 or 90, people can only respond to what you have to say. I have just been reading a thread on this forum where someones argument was dismissed just because of the posters age.

My avatar is how I see myself and the world... or at least a mere creative representation of how that I personally find attractive. It says alot about me in fact. If I actually put a picture of me I would be in the same position sitting on a log in a Japanese garden... As for what I look like, I'll leave that up to you. Everyone sees everyone differently and for me to say what I look like would be the worst of the possible explanations.

I change mine about every three weeks or so, apart from using one personal pic, I mostly choose random things (from science) that catch my eye.

My avatar pic results in nudie pics being forwarded in pm...

oop no, my mistake, that was a dream

(AND THIS COMMENT IS MADE IN JEST SO DO NOT BE FLOODING MY INBOX)

EDIT: a re-read of that capitalised comment, alerts me to the fact it appears to be a deliberate double entendre with a rudie edge, it was NOT intentional.
