| I'm writing a paper on child nudity for my psychology class. My focus is empirical evidence that proves a child's who exposes their naked body causes harm to the child and the exposure of that body causes harm to society. So far, I'm coming up empty handed. I can find no evidence except moral outrage against child nudity. And of course, beliefs are not physical evidence. They are culturally and religiously derived. Where can I go about find physical evidence that the naked human body under the age of 18 causes real harm to humans? If I don't get some hard evidence soon, I'm going to have to explain to my instructor why I need an extension, and he really doesn't do that without an automatic grade drop. |

Reverse the objective of the paper. You appear to have gathered sufficient evidence for that stance. _________________ The Universe is not only weirder than we imagine it is weirder than we can imagine. J.B.S.Haldane. |

You could compare the psychological wellbeing of members of nudist clubs (or more specifically their children) with a control group. I remember that at secondary school a classmate had a girlfriend for some time whose parents were in a nudist club, and they actually walked around naked inside their house all day. There must be more people like that, and if they're in some kind of club then they should be easy to find.
Good luck, and as always please report back on the forum when you have results |

No. I'm sticking to my objective. |

Thanks. I had not thought of clubs. |

| My kids (10 and 17) are naked a lot. My 10 yr old sees me naked a lot. My 17 yr old sleeps naked. Nudity has never been an issue for me or them. I don't get naked in front of my husband as often though. |

I wouldn't think nudity would have an affect in any way on the mental health of a child. After all there have been many cultures historically where nudity in public was quite common and I doubt all their children grew up damaged. I would think it would actually improve the mental health of the child by making them less ashamed of their body, which could be a barrier to healthy sexual relationships as an adult.
It would only harm a child if the nudity of the child were somehow sexualized. |

yeah, I hate that. People hear that nudity is ok in your house and they assume you're a bunch of incestuous pervs.
I remember when my husband's sister found out that our daughter slept with my husband. (once in a while, you know how toddlers can be) She was horrified. I was horrified that that was where her mind went. |

| Its cultural, primitive tribes that lived in isolated regions of africa and south america in the last century could have totally naked children walk around outside without harm or fuss (while the same could not be said of inuit tribes near the arctic circle). |

What are frickland's arguments against child nudity? Why is it bad?
Here in Finland, almost all families have a sauna at least once a week, and they go there naked. The tradition of sauna is very old, and so is the tradition of nudity. When kids grow up, they aren't ashamed of their bodies, and they certainly aren't mentaly damaged! |
