I'm hoping someone here can help me.

I Just recently had a tonsillectomy because 2 doctors said it would be a good idea.
I had problems with my right eustachian tube for almost a year.
I can not pop my ears.
My right ear constantly feels clogged.

Well, it's 3 weeks after the tonsillectomy
And I'm wondering if I got nerve damage.....

when I stick my tongue out, the right side of my throat hurts
and my ear problem is EVEN WORSE.

the doctor who did the surgery says I'm totally healed, and he says he can't help me.

I am so....so desperate to hear properly again.

I'm a sound engineer and this is ruining my career.

Could just be a minor infection of the middle ear or some fluid blocking the tube.
The tongue thing could just be pain from the operation, especially if youre an adult the tonsillectomy is very painful and can take a while to settle.
Id give it a bit more time before panicking.

Its very unlikely to be a nerve problem, there arent any major nerves that are easily damaged from removing the tonsils.

out of interest did you have adenoids removed because they can cause problems with the eustchian tube.

See your doctor though!

both of my doctors have no idea what's wrong....

thank you for your reply.

I will give it more time....

I don't know if I got the adenoids removed...I think just the tonsils?

They were HUGE, constantly.... I heard they were pretty gross.

Their next suggestion was to pierce my ear drum and put a tube in there.
As a musician....this kind of scares me.
I would NEVER pierce my drum, you know?

Is it a good idea?

Would it affect my hearing?

It's not like I can hear good right now, anyway.

The audiogram test said I have perfect hearing//pressure

but I can't believe that.....

I just want to be able to pop my ears............ ugh

You've probably already tried this but I'll suggest it just in case.

Push your thumb really hard against your ear so that it creates a suction and then pull away. I've woken up and not been able to hear. It freaked me out but after a few minutes of cleaning out my ear it was O.K.

That's about all I got. Good luck.
