In the image above, there are two magnets in the 2nd dimension (for simplicity's sake).
Both magnets are equally strong.
The magnets can only move east or west.
Assuming there is infinite space left and right, can magnet 1 ever touch magnet 2 when you push mag 1? |

You push the magnet with a certain constant force. The nearer the magnets get to each other , the larger the force will be by which the second magnet pushes back until the opposing forces are equal and they no longer come closer (no resultant force, so no acceleration relative to each other). If you push hard enough though, the inertia of the second magnet will prevent it from accelerating fast enough to avoid a collision.

Do we know why inertia creates this lag?
We seem to understand what inertia does but why does it do what it does? Basically what is inertia? Why does an object have resistance to change in velocity? Is it just an observed phenomenon or do we have any idea why? |

That is a good point.
I have always stated what I was taught was correct. And that mass does not exist. Diodes are created, to allow an object to move at a velocity through a conflicting bombardment of ambient radiation.
It takes time to create or reverse the diode effect. This is what we call kinetic energy like witch doctors, in my opinion. But watch what you say about the witch doctors they have some pretty cool tricks. Even our doctors go to study their stuff.
Things are pretty much moving while they are sitting on a planets surface. No one can say if the Universe is spinning around or not. And or at what speed.
Yet the objects do not hit us with energy if we touch them. Because we are similarly charged, to hide the velocity we are traveling at.
Einstein could never get that, in my opinion.
Even the nuclear clock experiment seemed flawed to me. Because if the clock can record the difference in velocity of the earths rotation. What would it think of the earths orbit around the sun.
That is why I believe they just did not shield the clock properly. And picked up the direction of flow of the earths magnetic field.
