| well....its simple...all you have to do is visit your doctor...its not your fault its probably just because of the way you were born and because of genetics.... or... maybe you are gay which is instinctly fine but some people may not find it very nice....but.... thats because some people are not used to being around gay people.....just ask a doctor thats what say.....it could just be a damaged cell in your penis which stops the blood from going into thepenis and erecting it???? |

Chillout, firstly half the reason could be that you're panicking by thinking you cant, in which case of course you wont.
Do go to your doctor they are very understanding and it is very treatable almost whatever the cause is.
If you think there may be a reason, mention it to the doctor, and last but not least dont mind littledanno above he doesnt sound like he knows any physiology. _________________ There is not enough love & kindness in the world to permit us give it away to imaginary beings.

And so do I, moved to 'health and medicine'.
As the others said: you may want to see a doctor. |

I was just reading this and wondering how a damaged cell could cause a clot. By the way, it is muscular contractions that cause an erection. If there was a lack of blood, the whole tissue would die.[/i] _________________ A biophysicist talks physics to the biologists and biology to the physicists, but then he meets another biophysicist, they just discuss women.

Actually the erection results from a release of muscle tension, the capillaries are always capable of carrying blood into the tissue, but the actual engorgement is by different bloodvessels that are usually kept closed.
Nonetheless, your conclusion that a single damaged cell wouldn't prevent erections is probably right lol.
The problem could be hormonal, psychological, or neurological. In all those cases a doctor is your best course of action. If you don't have a heart condition go get a prescription for Viagra. |

Before you go get a prescripti9on to viagra I would highly suggest you go see a doctor though because if you don't need it specifically it will probably hurt a whole lot. I've never used it myself but from the stories I've read it stays hard for a very extended period of time, like a few hours, and it hurts the entire time.
Mind you when I first read this topic I thought it was a joke topic, which I still believe. |

It is but how many people might stumble accross this and learn something .
And the treatment for abnormally long lasting erections is a shot of adrenaline, which causes the muscles to contract around the blood vessels and stops the erection.
The first thing he should do is get his heart checked out, incase it's a circulatory problem, then an examination of the veins to see if there is any damage. If nothing then shows up, he should probably see a psychologist, if that doesn't work he could turn to Viagra. Viagra is the quick fix though if psychiatry doesn't work lol. |

Yea, I agree that this is farce though.
All this erection talk is getting a little bit uncomfortable but this is the biology section and this is part of biology. I just with that this conversation was in a more serious place with talks of Viagra and homosexuality floating about. _________________ A biophysicist talks physics to the biologists and biology to the physicists, but then he meets another biophysicist, they just discuss women.

| What? Viagra and homosexuality are both very serious and quite relevant to the topic of erectile dysfunction. |

i_feel_tiredsleepy, Skiyk, did neither of you notice this turned into a conversation between the two of you about your curiosities of erections and homosexuality!?

Actually I took a biochemistry course that went very much into detail about erections, lol. I will not hide my curiosity of erections and homosexuals |

Ooooh we need an emoticon that pisses itself laughing!
I can't believe you people.
You think homosexuals don't get erections? What planet are you on?
You think people will learn something here?

When did anyone say homosexuals couldn't get erections o.O
I never even mentioned homosexuals except to say I have a curiosity in them
That wasn't the point, it was a reference to the first poster calling the guy gay. Although, a person who is in denial of being a homosexual could have erectile disfunction when in a relationship with a woman. It is not uncommon for a person in denial to go to a doctor because of those types of issues. No one ever stated that homosexuals couldn't get erections. Moreover, I never said he was a homosexual and should seek help for it lol, when it's psychological it is usually issues of self-confidence and nervousness. |
