I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm 16 and live in North Wales. I've been interested in science in general (although astronomy and physics in particular) since a very early age. I'm also interested in technology, gaming, rock music etc. I've built my own computer, done a bit of web design, graphics work and dabbled in a lot of varied areas of computing. I'm also on quite a few atheist forums as I also find religion interesting.

I look forward to talking and debating on the forum.

Thanks,
Dewi.

Cool nice to meet you. Sounds like you will fit in here perfectly just watch out there are a lot of super smart people on here. Very Happy

I am not one of them. Twisted Evil

But welcome and have a nice stay.

Also what is your native language?

I am assuming you can speak more than one due to the fact that we are talking in english. Cool

I can only speak one language! Fluently, anyway. I took a couple years of spanish in highschool and can blunt force my way through various signs and ads in spanish, but that's about it.

Welcome, eximius.

Welcome! I can speak Afrikaans, English, Seswati, and some Zulu. The main reason for that is the same with most multi-lingual people: We live and regularly interact with people of varying languages. So Demon X01, the fact that you don't speak another language says nothing about you.

Demon, there are lots of people on the forum who think they are super smart

and the smartest people are the ones that realise they are mere mortals treading the same path, albeit at different junctures and crossroads.

Smartness is relative. There are probably countless things you know about that others don't.

Learning is simply a journey of sharing. There is no above or below.

So none of this derision of self please or elevating and fearing others!

As for languages. I personally am lacking in many! Words often obscure the truth because there are always discrepancies of meanings.

The most popular and proficient language of forums is often bullshit and ad hominum! Confused

Welcome eximius Smile

Thanks, was just a little shocked when I first got there that so many people knew multiple languages. Very Happy And that journey is exactly why I am here and I have learned alot reading from you and others.

Understood. Just a little intimidating when you think you are of decent intelligence and walk into a room full of people and they are speaking english but you can hardly understand a word of it but I have been reading and now more things make sense. Long way to go.
