Hey guys my name is Adam. Im a senior in high school and i own my own little computer business. Knowing that computer hardware is only a tip of the iceberg i would like to ask those of you who are knowledgeable in the comp science field to help me out. I would like to get "ahead of the game" in some aspects before i jump into college. Could anyone tell me what i should know and/or read up on? Also advise me of things i should know before going into the computer science/engineer field?

As i said before.. im not a total noob when it comes to computers.. ive been working on them for years, but i know there is a vast amount of other information i will need to know for college.

May I suggest you ask the college you wish to attend, if you can pose these questions to a relevant lecturer?
and/or look at the details of the course, which might give clues.

If they want your 'custom' I'm sure they'd be happy to help, other than that I personally cannot advise.

Hello,
I need some advice. I would like to be a nanotechnologist,
but before the Nanotechnology MSc I have to choose a BSc course.
I'm thinking of choosing bioengineering - do you think it will be good enough?
(I'm especially interested in nanobiotechnology and nanomedicine.)
Could you please help me?

Adam,

If you don't know already how to program in Java, then I suggest you start there. It is the best possible starting point, imo.

Plus, as an extreme fan of linux, I suggest linux too. It'll make your life a lot easier and cheaper to know linux.

May I ask what about your computer biz? Do you have a web page?

Eithel_Sirion,

Nanotech proper in academia is owned jointly by physics, chemistry and materials science(engineering). Bionanotech is those guys plus the bio-fields.

If you're very theoretical, then physics plus bioeng. If you're way more hands on chemistry plus bioeng. If you're all hands on then a double in materials and bioeng.

And consider the mud-phud programs with your goals. i.e. PH.d/M.D. programs.

Thanks musashi, bionengineers have to study lots of Chemistry, so I hope I made the right decision.
