Hey guys my name is Adam. Im a senior in high school and i own my own little computer business. Knowing that computer hardware is only a tip of the iceberg i would like to ask those of you who are knowledgeable in the comp science field to help me out. I would like to get "ahead of the game" in some aspects before i jump into college. Could anyone tell me what i should know and/or read up on? Also advise me of things i should know before going into the computer science/engineer field?
As i said before.. im not a total noob when it comes to computers.. ive been working on them for years, but i know there is a vast amount of other information i will need to know for college. |

May I suggest you ask the college you wish to attend, if you can pose these questions to a relevant lecturer?
and/or look at the details of the course, which might give clues.
If they want your 'custom' I'm sure they'd be happy to help, other than that I personally cannot advise. |

Hello,
I need some advice. I would like to be a nanotechnologist,
but before the Nanotechnology MSc I have to choose a BSc course.
I'm thinking of choosing bioengineering - do you think it will be good enough?
(I'm especially interested in nanobiotechnology and nanomedicine.)
Could you please help me? |

Adam,
If you don't know already how to program in Java, then I suggest you start there. It is the best possible starting point, imo.
Plus, as an extreme fan of linux, I suggest linux too. It'll make your life a lot easier and cheaper to know linux.
May I ask what about your computer biz? Do you have a web page?

Eithel_Sirion,
Nanotech proper in academia is owned jointly by physics, chemistry and materials science(engineering). Bionanotech is those guys plus the bio-fields.
If you're very theoretical, then physics plus bioeng. If you're way more hands on chemistry plus bioeng. If you're all hands on then a double in materials and bioeng.
And consider the mud-phud programs with your goals. i.e. PH.d/M.D. programs. |

| Thanks musashi, bionengineers have to study lots of Chemistry, so I hope I made the right decision. |
