Adventure Books of Seattle is giving everyone an opportunity to have their say in print about global warming. You may even receive your choice of any book we currently publish.
'A Thousand Voices - A Testament on Global Warming' is a pretty basic book. We have a simple two-question webform at the site. You give your first name (last name optional) and the city/state or city/country where you live (to give reference to your comments) and then fire away your opinions/solutions/local observations/whatever in the text box and hit the submit button.
That's it...you are IN the book. We publish all the comments (up to 1,000, hence the title) along with full-page images showing the damage caused by global warming, and publish the book. We're going with a larger 8.5x11 inch format on this one, due to the images. Comes out in paperback and hardback with dust cover in 2007.
'A Thousand Voices' is being edited by yours truly and Geoff Nelder of Chester, England. Mr. Nelder is a Fellow of the Royal Meteorological Society and has written a reference book on the weather that is still in use today. He is also a member of the editing staff at Adventure Books.
Every so often we select a submission to the book as 'the best' out of the last fifty or so and send them a free book of their choice, including shipping. A list of winners is available at the site. For the best overall submission, there is a very nice Grand Prize.
Full details are available at the site. You can click on the WWW link below or go to www.adventurebooksofseattle.com/theglobalwarmingbook.htm
If you have something to say about global warming, why not do it? _________________ 'Don't give up reaching for the stars...

| seriously, why would 1000 ill-informed members of the public provide any scientific backing towards global warming? |

Sorry about that moderator...go ahead and delete the other one, wherever it is. I have put out the word on the book in so many forums that I sometimes lose track. My apologies.

Well, first...it is not a scientific book per se, but the comments from a thousand ordinary people from around the planet. Some are experts, and many of the comments are people telling about what is going on where they live as a result of global warming. This provides a very well-rounded picture of the situation in general. You would be surprised how often these people say the same things about the climate changes where they live...even though they have not met each other. It really makes a believer out of you.
We have received entries from scientists, teachers, students, housewives, firefighters, even a guy stationed at a research station on the Antarctic coast. You would be surprised what people say, and coming from so many diverse locations, the entries are quite interesting.
We contacted the office of Al Gore about writing a possible foreword for the book, or at least endorsing the book. They want to see the finished manuscript first. No problem. Seems fair to us. _________________ 'Don't give up reaching for the stars...

Freelance articles with attached images are now being accepted for the book. We also designed a new cover, although it probably isn't the final version. And...I would like to thank the more than 350 people who have partcipated so far! _________________ 'Don't give up reaching for the stars...
