Human cloning is becoming more and more probable but the only things standing in its way are only a few technical details and ethics.
Do you believe that human cloning should be allowed?

to an extent. Those people that talk about how human cloning is only the work of god and it is unethical don't see the other side of the coin. They are completely stuck in their own beliefs and don't see the good it can bring to mankind if certain cloning is allowed. We can clone organs and such so that each person will have the opportunity to have another organ placed in them that won't cause all the turmoil that other organs might. It would extend human life for quite a few people.

It's just flesh. Clone my ass and make hamburger. 
My only concern is that it prompts us to re-examine that ...nazty... question of genetic superiority. We haven't resolved it, there could be trouble. The hard issue isn't cloning, but something cloning brings to the front.
Honestly, I am not a great candidate for cloning. That's the truth. Of course with cloning & the need to limit population growth working in tandem, we're going to discriminate. Even if we're merely cloning eyes & lungs, we'll discriminate. I ought to endorse this. I ought to endorse the removal - by attrition - of some "no good" genes. Makes sense.
One can understand one thing, and believe another. Willfully. I believe that each quirky individual human alive today, yesterday, and tomorrow, is worth no more and no less than another. That's a greater truth to me, simply because I'm built to intuit it. And I'll act on these silly truths, even understanding them technically "incorrect".
If it's in a referendum, I vote "No" do not allow cloning that in any way discriminates between people. That doesn't preclude all cloning. |
